On Valentine’s Day, True Worshippers Kingdom Ministries chose to express love not with flowers or cards, but with action. What unfolded at Woodruff Park was more than outreach; it was a divine appointment.
Below are personal testimonies from those who witnessed and experienced God move in powerful ways.
FROM ANGEL MICHAEL
(LA Michael aka Angel Michael)
The day before Valentine’s Day, I was in a very dark place. My son passed away on Father’s Day, and nine months before that I lost my brother who was also my best friend. The pain was overwhelming.
On Valentine’s Day, I woke up still feeling lonely and broken. A thought came to my mind to go downtown and help feed the homeless, something I’ve done before. I sat down on the curb at Woodruff Park and suddenly broke down crying. The grief was too heavy. I decided to go home.
As I walked toward the bus stop, I passed a man in a wheelchair. I didn’t recognize him. Then I heard someone call my name: “Michael!” It was Greg. I hadn’t seen him in over 20 years. I used to manage a transitional house, and he was one of the residents. We became close friends and even ministered together through gospel music. Seeing him again after all these years was overwhelming.
But Greg was not well. He had been sitting in that same spot in the park for days. He couldn’t move. All I could do at first was pray.
I approached another ministry group nearby and asked if they would come pray with him. They agreed, but no one followed me back. That hurt deeply. I was already grieving and questioning so much.
Then I saw another group setting up tables across the park, True Worshippers Kingdom Ministries. Though they had just arrived and hadn’t fully set up, they welcomed me. When police asked them to relocate, they moved across the street and continued serving.
What I witnessed next restored my faith.
Savannah came and sat on the ground beside Greg. She didn’t stand over him, she got down where he was. She talked with him. She prayed with him. Soon, the rest of the team came.
They didn’t just pray and leave.
They arranged for Greg and another man to stay in a hotel for three days. They didn’t have to do that. That is agape love. Real love. Action.
I had been hurt by Christians. I had been discouraged. But that day, God showed me something different. It was a divine appointment.
Pastor Lea. Pastor Larry. Minister Savanna. The entire team, I salute you.
This experience made me fall on my knees and say, “Hallelujah. Thank You, God.”

FROM DEANNA
It felt incredibly meaningful to go into the community and truly bless people in need.
So often we drive by and feel sad, but this was different. This was doing something.
Being surrounded by loving, kind people who gave their time so freely was inspiring. Watching Minister Larry pray over Gregory with the same care and compassion he would show one of us was deeply moving.
Seeing Gregory welcomed, supported, and given a place to experience some sense of normalcy was a powerful expression of God’s love.
I’m looking forward to serving on more missions with True Worshippers Kingdom Ministries.
FROM MINISTER MARY-MARTHA PHILIPPE
Love in Action – My Testimony
We never truly know where God will lead us or who He will lead us to.
When we pray and ask Him to use us, we don’t always know how that will unfold, but He always has a divine plan.
This second trip to Woodruff Park was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. Seeing people in such dire need was heartbreaking. There are so many unexpected circumstances that can lead to homelessness and witnessing it up close changes you.
For years, I carried a burden for the less fortunate but did not know how to serve in this way. I am beyond grateful that God made a way for us to step outside the walls of the church and into the humble spotlight of service.
We witnessed compassion in action. We prayed. We served. We acted.
Seeing a man who was once lying helpless now receiving medical care truly does my heart good.
It is good to pray, but it is also good to act.
Let us continue to work for the Master.
Be blessed,Minister Mary-Martha Philippe
FROM PHEBE
A Day of Ministry and Mercy
I woke up early that Saturday filled with purpose. I organized donations of clothing, shoes, and toiletries collected from coworkers and neighbors, packed my car, and headed downtown to meet the team.
When I arrived, the police had asked us to move from the park, so we relocated across the street. Our unhoused brothers and sisters were already waiting.
We distributed sandwiches, water, juice boxes, clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and special gift bags with handwritten notes of hope from Scripture.
Throughout the day, we prayed and connected deeply with many people. I noticed a significant number struggling with mental illness, something often misunderstood. I also saw families with very young children, which deeply moved me.
Later, Georgia State Police asked us to pack up again. This time, the officer respectfully explained we needed a permit and told us how to obtain one. Even in that moment, I sensed God guiding us.
After packing up, we felt led to return to the park to pray.
That’s when we encountered a man lying under the ATL sign. He couldn’t walk. After suffering a stroke, he had lost everything. When Minister Larry knelt down to speak with him, the man broke down in tears.
We prayed, but we knew prayer alone was not enough. We could not leave him there another night.
We stepped out in faith and placed him and another man in a hotel for several days, creating space for next steps. From there, he was connected to medical care.
God was absolutely with us that day. I had been praying for deeper ministry, and this felt like a divine response. I believe great things are ahead for True Worshippers Kingdom Ministries and for the people we are called to serve.
FROM SAVANNAH (SAVI ANKA)
On Saturday, February 14th, our family ministry, True Worshippers Kingdom Ministries, went downtown for our “Love in Action” outreach.
Instead of celebrating Valentine’s Day in the traditional way, we chose to express the heart of Christ by serving our unhoused brothers and sisters.
We distributed food, clothing, and gift bags filled with love. But what impacted me most was meeting a man who had suffered a stroke. He was immobile, sleeping on the ground.
We prayed with him, ministered to him, and secured a hotel room for him and his friend. From there, he was admitted into the hospital and is now receiving the medical care he desperately needed.
I was also able to contact the other man’s family. He has since reconnected with his son and entered a shelter.
Watching God move in real time reminded me that love is not just a word, it is action. It is obedience. It is compassion.
This day showed me God’s Sovereignty in such a tangible way and filled me with renewed hope and purpose.
I can’t wait to do it again.
A PASTORAL REFLECTION
From Pastor Lea Philippe-Huffman
“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” — James 1:27 (NKJV)
Scripture is clear. True worship is not confined to songs, sanctuaries, or gatherings. It is demonstrated in how we care for those in distress.
Valentine’s Day, when you examine its origins, has pagan roots. Many Christians choose not to observe it for that reason, and I respect that conviction.
However, when the world designates a day and calls it “a day of love,” I see an opportunity, not a compromise. If the world acknowledges love, then we can redeem the moment and demonstrate what love truly is.
For a child of God, every day is Love Day. Love gives. Love covers. Love protects.
The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:1–13 that love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself; love is not puffed up. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, and love never fails.
That chapter is not reserved for weddings. It is the blueprint for Kingdom living. And when you read it closely, you discover something powerful: Love is not merely an emotion. Love is a person.
That person is Jesus Christ. He bore all things. He endured all things. He covered us. He gave His very life for the world.
So, on February 14th, we chose to be Love in Action.
We knelt on concrete. We listened. We prayed. We clothed. We fed. We acted.
And in doing so, we were reminded of the words of Jesus:
“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me… Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” — Matthew 25:35–36, 40 (NKJV)
We were not simply serving people in a park. We were ministering to Christ Himself.
We will not argue about the calendar; we will redeem it. Because worship in Spirit must be lived out in Truth. And Truth demands compassion.
If Christ gave His life, the least we can do is give our time, our resources, and our presence, especially on a day the world already recognizes as love.
Every day is Love Day for a believer. And we intend to live like it.
With conviction and compassion,
Pastor Lea Philippe-Huffman
